Beginner Chinchilla Information
Life Span 10-15 years. Known to live 20+years.

Have No Smell, virtually odor free. No fleas. Hypoallergenic.
Chinchilla                    vs.                        Sugar Glider
Odor less                                          Strong odor, rub pee all over everything to mark territory.
Chinchilla pellets grain supplement                    3-4 fresh fruit's and vegetables everyday!!!!!

I have had both pets. The Gliders smell was terrible even if you cleaned and washed the cage Evey other day, you
had to constantly wash pouches and get ride of branches. And going to the store every other day for fresh fruit.
They are a lot of work! If you love these little guys and are that dedicated go for it, but I found out that they were not
for me. I hated the fresh fruit salad every day. I found my calling with the chinchillas.

(
Gliders) And people will tell you that they don't need to have fresh fruit every day, that is not true they do. And you
CAN NOT GIVE THEM CANNED FRUIT OR VEGETABLES! Because of the preservatives.
Chinchillas and Gliders Their Life expectancy is similar.

SOUNDS: Can make some different sound, but are usually very quiet.
  • Peep Peep Peep. A soft peeping sound, (I hear it when they are having play time or want to
communicate with the other chins around them)
  • EKK EKK EKK.  Which is a alarm sound. Usually when they are afraid. But this usually does
    not happen very often.
Some people can have them for years and never hear a peep. For the most part they are very
quiet. They do make great apartment pets!!

Do NOT Chase or Scare your chinchilla, they will remember it. And can lose trust in you.

Children need to be mature to be around a chinchilla.

NEVER PUT A CHINCHILLA IN THE MIDDLE OF A ROOM. Make sure to have them against a wall
or in a corner. Also try to place them above floor level. They will be very afraid and scared other
wise.

Never put a Chin in direct sun light.

Drafts: Be sure to keep your chinchilla out of Draft areas in your home.

They can be friendly, or not, it all depends on if they were worked with or not. All of mine are
friendly unless otherwise stated.

They will nibble, on furniture and stuff. Some times a finger but usually very very soft. We work
with all of our babys born here and get complements all the time on what sweet babys we have,
